Drug Interactions With Aripiprazole

A number of medicines can potentially lead to drug interactions with aripiprazole, including cimetidine, protease inhibitors, and certain antibiotics or antifungals. Aripiprazole drug interactions can alter the levels of some drugs in your blood, decrease the effectiveness of certain drugs, or increase your risk of side effects. You should talk with your pharmacist or healthcare provider about any interactions with aripiprazole that may apply to you.

 

An Introduction to Drug Interactions With Aripiprazole

Aripiprazole (Abilify®) can potentially interact with a number of other medicines. Some of these medicines that may lead to aripiprazole interactions include:
 
  • Alcohol
  • Certain antibiotics or antifungals, including:

 

    • Clarithromycin (Biaxin®)
    • Erythromycin (Ery-Tab®)
    • Isoniazid (Nydrazid®)
    • Itraconazole (Sporanox®)
    • Ketoconazole (Nizoral®)
    • Miconazole
    • Telithromycin (Ketek®)

 

  • Certain anticonvulsants, including:

 

 

 

 

 

 

  • Quinidine
  • Rifamycin antibiotics, including rifabutin (Mycobutin®), rifampin (Rifadin®), and rifapentine (Priftin®).
