Drug Interactions With Chlorpromazine (Cont.)

Rifamycin Antibiotics
Rifamycin antibiotics may lower the amount of chlorpromazine in your blood, perhaps making it less effective. If you are taking these drugs together, your healthcare provider may need to increase your dose of chlorpromazine.

Tricyclic Antidepressants
Taking chlorpromazine with tricyclic antidepressants can raise the amount of chlorpromazine in your blood, increasing your risk of chlorpromazine side effects. If you are taking these drugs together, your healthcare provider may need to decrease your chlorpromazine dosage.

Final Thoughts on Drug Interactions With Chlorpromazine

Not every chlorpromazine drug interaction was discussed in this article. Therefore, you should talk with your pharmacist or healthcare provider about the drug interactions with chlorpromazine that may apply to you. Because so many medications interact dangerously with chlorpromazine, you should not take any medication (including non-prescription medications) without first talking with your healthcare provider.
