Animal studies on breastfeeding and Fanapt have shown that this medication does pass through breast milk in rats, although the potential problems it may cause are unknown.

Is Fanapt Safe for Breastfeeding Women?

What Does the Research Say?

Because Fanapt passes through breast milk in rats, the medication is also expected to pass though breast milk in humans (although no research has been done to confirm this). It is not known what problems (if any) Fanapt could cause in a breastfed infant.

Talking With Your Healthcare Provider
