Haldol Side Effects

Some of the more common side effects of Haldol include nausea, hair loss, and constipation. In most cases, side effects are minor and can easily be treated. However, you should contact your healthcare provider if you experience more serious side effects, such as a painful erection that does not go away, muscle tension, or confusion.

An Introduction to Haldol Side Effects

As with any medicine, side effects are possible with Haldol^® (haloperidol). However, not everyone who takes Haldol will have problems. In fact, most people tolerate the medication well. If side effects do occur, in most cases, they are minor and either require no treatment or are easily treated by you or your healthcare provider.

Common Side Effects of Haldol

Haldol has been studied thoroughly in clinical trials. In these studies, the side effects that occur in a group of people taking the drug are documented and are then compared to side effects that occur in another group of people not taking the medicine. As a result, it is possible to see what side effects occur, how often they appear, and how they compare to the group not taking the medicine.

Drowsiness
Headaches
Confusion
Vertigo (a spinning sensation)
Hair loss
Sensitivity to the sun

An increased sex drive
Constipation or diarrhea
Nausea

Blurred vision
Difficulty passing urine.
