Invega Sustenna and Adolescents
Schizophrenia is a type of brain disorder that may be treated with Invega® Sustenna® (paliperidone palmitate). This prescription drug belongs to a group of medications called atypical antipsychotics. It is approved for use in adults age 18 and older; it has not been adequately studied in younger age groups.
However, there may be times when a healthcare provider may prescribe Invega Sustenna to treat schizophrenia in adolescents younger than 18 years old. This would be called an "off-label," or unapproved, use of the drug. It is important to talk to your healthcare provider about the potential risks and benefits of using this drug in children.
