Invega Sustenna Dosing in People With Kidney Disease

The standard dosage of Invega Sustenna for the treatment of schizophrenia in people with mild kidney disease is an initial dosage of 156 mg. A dose of 117 mg is given one week later, followed by a once-a-month maintenance dose of 78 mg. This medication is not recommended for people with moderate or severe kidney disease.

General Information on Receiving Invega Sustenna

Some considerations to keep in mind during treatment with Invega Sustenna include the following:
  • This medication comes as a liquid that is given as an injection into a muscle (an intramuscular, or IM, injection) once a month.
  • The injection is administered by a healthcare provider in an office or clinic.
  • The first two Invega Sustenna injections are given into the shoulder (deltoid muscle). Subsequent injections can be given in the buttocks (gluteal muscle) or shoulder (deltoid muscle).
  • For this drug to work properly, it must be used as prescribed. Your symptoms may return if you stop using this medication or miss a dose.
