Invega Sustenna Dosing

If you have schizophrenia, a healthcare provider may prescribe Invega^® Sustenna^® (paliperidone palmitate). The dosing guidelines for this antipsychotic drug will vary from person to person, depending on how you respond to the drug, other medications you are taking, and various other factors.

 

This medicine comes as a liquid that is given as an injection into a muscle (an intramuscular, or IM, injection). This injection is given by a healthcare provider in an office or clinic.

 

A first-time dose is usually followed by a second one given one week later. Thereafter, a once-a-month maintenance dose is given every four weeks. However, people who are switching from another long-acting injectable antipsychotic do not need to receive the first two doses that are given one week apart. Instead, they can begin their maintenance dose on the day of their regularly scheduled antipsychotic injection.
