Effects of Invega

Invega® (paliperidone) is a prescription drug licensed for the treatment of schizophrenia and schizoaffective disorder. It is part of a class of medications known as atypical antipsychotics, which appear to work by blocking or lessening the effects of certain brain chemicals (such as dopamine and serotonin) that may be elevated in people with schizophrenia.
Several clinical studies have been conducted to study Invega's effects. In these studies, people taking the medication for schizophrenia experienced improvements in their schizophrenia symptoms (including hallucinations and suspiciousness). Longer studies also showed that Invega can help prevent hospitalization due to schizophrenia and can help prevent symptoms from returning.
