The prescription medication
Invega® (
paliperidone) is approved to treat
schizophrenia in adults. Specifically, it is used to improve symptoms and help prevent relapses. Invega is also approved for treating schizoaffective disorder. Invega comes in the form of tablets and is available in the following strengths:
- 1.5 mg tablets
- 3 mg tablets
- 6 mg tablets
- 9 mg tablets.
The recommended starting Invega dose is 6 mg once daily in the morning. If your schizophrenia symptoms do not improve with this dosage, your healthcare provider may recommend switching to 9 mg
Invega tablets. The maximum recommended dosage is 12 mg once daily.
People with kidney disease may need a lower Invega dose (such as Invega 1.5 mg or 3 mg once daily).
