Invega Indications
Invega® (paliperidone) is an atypical antipsychotic medication that is used for treating schizophrenia and schizoaffective disorder. It is not a cure for these conditions, but can be used to help improve symptoms, such as paranoia or hallucinations. Invega also helps to prevent schizophrenia relapses (worsening of schizophrenia).
At this time, Invega is only approved for use in adults and adolescents (age 12 to 17). It is not approved for treating childhood schizophrenia or schizoaffective disorder. Be sure to talk with your healthcare provider about the risks and benefits of using Invega in young children.
On occasion, healthcare providers will prescribe medications on an "off-label" basis (for non-approved uses). However, there are currently no universally accepted off-label reasons for using Invega.
