Abilify Maintena (aripiprazole ER injection) is known to pass through breast milk in women. However, there is no information available on the possible risks this medication could pose to a nursing infant. Due to the unknown risks, the manufacturer recommends that women not use Abilify Maintena while breastfeeding.

Aripiprazole (the active ingredient in Abilify Maintena) was shown to pass through breast milk in humans, probably in small amounts. There is currently no information on the effects, if any, the medication might have on a baby exposed to this drug through breast milk. If your healthcare provider recommends taking Abilify Maintena while breastfeeding, make sure to watch for any side effects in your child.
