If your healthcare provider has recommended Invega® Sustenna® (paliperidone palmitate) to help treat symptoms of schizophrenia, you may be wondering when and how this medicine is given.
 
Invega Sustenna comes in the form of a liquid that is given as an injection into a muscle (an intramuscular, or IM, injection). Your healthcare provider will administer the injection. The recommended initial dose for treating schizophrenia is 234 mg. One week later, a dose of 156 mg of Invega Sustenna is given. Every 4 weeks thereafter, a maintenance dose of 117 mg is given.
