Schizophrenia Home > Schizophrenia and Suicide

People with schizophrenia attempt suicide much more often than people in the general population. Of the suicide attempts in people with schizophrenia (especially younger adult males), about 10 percent succeed.

It is hard to predict which people with this mental disorder are prone to suicide, so if someone with schizophrenia talks about or tries to commit suicide, it is important to seek professional help right away.
