Schizophrenia Home > Stelazine Drug Information

Stelazine® (trifluoperazine hydrochloride) is licensed to treat the following conditions:
This prescription medication comes in tablet form. It's not exactly clear how Stelazine works, but it is thought to block or lessen the effects of dopamine in the brain.
Before using Stelazine, make sure your healthcare provider has up-to-date information on any other drugs you are taking, including vitamins and supplements, as well as any allergies you may have, including to medications, foods, dyes, or preservatives. Also, let your healthcare provider know if you have a blood disorder, breathing problems, or liver disease.
Although Stelazine can help minimize symptoms of schizophrenia and anxiety, it is not a cure.
