Considerations for people taking quetiapine include the following:
Quetiapine comes in tablet form. It is usually taken by mouth one to three times a day. If you are taking the medication once a day, it is usually best to take it at bedtime.
You can take quetiapine with or without food. If the medication bothers your stomach, try taking it with food.
The drug should be taken at the same time(s) each day to maintain even levels in your blood.
For quetiapine to work properly, it must be taken as prescribed. The medication will not work if you stop taking it.
If you are unsure about anything related to quetiapine or quetiapine dosing, talk with your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist. Do not stop taking the drug without first discussing it with your healthcare provider (see Seroquel Withdrawal).
