When treating
schizophrenia,
bipolar disorder, or
autism, your healthcare provider may prescribe 1 mg
Risperdal® (
risperidone) tablets once or twice daily. However, the dose of Risperdal your healthcare provider actually recommends will vary depending on a number of factors, such as your age and weight, the condition being treated, other medical conditions you may have, and other medications you are currently taking.
For example, the recommended starting Risperdal dose for schizophrenia in adults is a 1 mg tablet twice daily (or Risperdal 2 mg once daily). Usually, the dose can be increased slowly in the next few days, up to Risperdal 3 mg twice daily (or 6 mg once daily) by the third day.
Risperdal 1 mg comes in the form of tablets, orally disintegrating tablets (sold under the name
Risperdal M-Tabs®), and a liquid (
Risperdal Oral Solution 1 mg per mL).
