risperidone) is passed through breast milk. Because of the potentially serious side effects that could occur in the nursing infant, the manufacturer of Risperdal does not recommend that women who are breastfeeding use Risperdal. Therefore, if you are breastfeeding or thinking of breastfeeding and have been prescribed Risperdal, make sure to let your healthcare provider know.

Research has shown that Risperdal passes through breast milk. Only a few cases of using Risperdal in breastfeeding women have been reported. In these cases, no side effects were seen in the breastfed infants. If your healthcare provider recommends taking Risperdal while breastfeeding, be sure to watch for any side effects in your child.
