Saphris Drug Interactions

Blood Pressure Medications
Taking Saphris with a high blood pressure medication might increase the risk of low blood pressure (hypotension). Be sure to watch for signs of this problem, such as lightheadedness, dizziness, or fainting.

CYP1A2 Inhibitors
Saphris is metabolized by a specific liver enzyme known as CYP1A2. Some other medications, known as CYP1A2 inhibitors, slow down the activity of this enzyme, causing an increase in the level of Saphris in the blood. This could lead to serious Saphris side effects. Check with your healthcare provider before combining these two medications.

QT-Prolonging Medications
In general, Saphris should not be combined with any other medications that can cause QT prolongation (a certain change in the heart rhythm), due to the risk of a life-threatening arrhythmia.
