Stelazine Dosage

When treating schizophrenia, the recommended starting Stelazine dosage is 2 mg to 5 mg, taken three times daily. Your healthcare provider may adjust your dose, depending on how you respond to the medicine. For treating anxiety, the usual Stelazine dosage is 1 mg or 2 mg, taken twice daily. In this case, you should not take more than 6 mg per day or take it for more than 12 weeks.

 

Stelazine Dosage: An Introduction

The dose of Stelazine® (trifluoperazine hydrochloride) that your healthcare provider recommends will vary, depending on a number of factors, including:
 
  • The medical condition being treated
  • Other medical conditions you may have
  • Other medications you may currently be taking.
     
As always, do not adjust your Stelazine dosage unless your healthcare provider specifically instructs you to do so.
 

Stelazine Dosage for Schizophrenia

The recommended starting dose of Stelazine for schizophrenia is Stelazine 2 mg to 5 mg, taken three times daily. Your healthcare provider may need to adjust your Stelazine dosage, depending on how you react to the medication.
 

Stelazine Dosage for Anxiety

The usual dose for anxiety is Stelazine 1 mg or 2 mg, taken twice daily. It should not be used at doses higher than 6 mg per day or for longer than 12 weeks for treating anxiety.
 

Stelazine Dosage in Children

The recommended dose of Stelazine for children age 6 to 12 with schizophrenia is Stelazine 1 mg, taken once or twice a day. The drug should only be used in children who are hospitalized or who are under close medical supervision.
