Stelazine Drug Interactions

Alcohol, barbiturates, and certain seizure medications are some of the drugs that can potentially interact with Stelazine. Drug interactions such as these can increase the risk of side effects, lead to sedation, or cause the medications to become less effective. To minimize the risk of developing serious Stelazine drug interactions, tell your healthcare provider about all other medications you are taking prior to starting treatment.

 

An Introduction to Stelazine Drug Interactions

Stelazine® (trifluoperazine hydrochloride) can potentially interact with a number of other medicines. Some of the medicines that may lead to Stelazine drug interactions include:
 
  • Alcohol
 
  • Barbiturates, including:
 
    • Amobarbital (Amytal®)
    • Butalbital (Fioricet®, Fiorinal®)
    • Pentobarbital (Nembutal®)
    • Phenobarbital (Luminal®)
    • Secobarbital (Seconal®)
 
  • Certain anticonvulsants, including:
 
 
  • Narcotics or opiates, such as morphine or oxycodone (Oxycontin®)
 
 
  • Warfarin (Coumadin®, Jantoven®).
