When and How to Take This Medication

The following are some general considerations for when and how to take thioridazine:
  • Thioridazine comes in tablet form. It is usually taken by mouth two or four times a day.
  • You can take this medicine with or without food. If thioridazine bothers your stomach, try taking it with food.
  • Thioridazine should be taken at the same times each day to maintain an even level in your blood.
  • For the medication to work properly, it must be taken as prescribed. Thioridazine will not work if you stop taking it.

  • Confusion or agitation
  • Seizures
  • Difficulty breathing
  • Intestinal obstruction (blockage)
  • Coma.
