Trilafon Warnings and Precautions

Trilafon warnings and precautions to be aware of include potential drug interactions, the safety of taking Trilafon while pregnant, and the risk of developing neuroleptic malignant syndrome. Conditions that you should tell your healthcare provider about prior to taking Trilafon include glaucoma, brain damage, or kidney disease. Trilafon warnings and precautions also extend to people with a blood disorder, subcortical brain damage, or who are taking medicines that cause significant drowsiness.

Trilafon: What Should I Tell My Healthcare Provider?

You should talk with your healthcare provider prior to taking Trilafon® (perphenazine) if you have:
 
  • Kidney disease, including kidney failure (renal failure)
  • A blood disorder
  • Brain damage
  • Breathing problems, including infections, asthma, or emphysema
  • Glaucoma
  • Very high or very low blood pressure
  • An enlarged prostate (also known as benign prostatic hyperplasia or BPH)
  • Difficulty passing urine
  • Any allergies, including allergies to food, dyes, or preservatives.
     
Also, let your healthcare provider know if you:
 
  • Are pregnant or thinking of becoming pregnant
  • Are breastfeeding
  • Have an upcoming surgery
  • Drink alcohol.
     
You should also be sure to tell your healthcare provider about all of the medicines you take, including prescription and non-prescription medicines, vitamins, and herbal supplements.
