Versacloz Side Effects

Sedation, dizziness, and increased salvation are among the most common side effects reported with Versacloz. Potentially serious reactions are also possible and may include seizures, high fever, or trouble breathing. Contact your healthcare provider immediately if you develop any of these more serious problems or if anything does not seem right.

An Introduction to Versacloz Side Effects

Just like any medicine, Versacloz™ (clozapine oral suspension) can cause side effects. However, not everyone who takes the medication will experience problems. In fact, most people tolerate it reasonably well. If reactions do occur, in most cases, they are minor and either require no treatment or are treated easily by you or your healthcare provider.

(This article covers many, but not all, of the possible side effects with Versacloz. Your healthcare provider can discuss a more complete list with you.)

Common Side Effects With Versacloz

Versacloz has been studied extensively in clinical trials. In these studies, the side effects that occurred in a group of people taking the drug were carefully documented and compared to a similar group of people not taking it. Therefore, it was possible to see what side effects occurred, how often they appeared, and how they compared to the group of people not taking Versacloz.

In these studies, the most common Versacloz side effects included:

  • Increased salivation -- in up to 48 percent of people
  • Sedation -- up to 46 percent
  • Weight gain -- up to 31 percent (see Clozapine and Weight Gain)
  • Dizziness or vertigo (a whirling or spinning sensation) -- up to 27 percent
  • Constipation-- up to 25 percent
  • A fast heart rate (tachycardia) -- up to 25 percent
