When to Take Zyprexa

Zyprexa® (olanzapine) comes in the form of regular tablets and as orally disintegrating tablets; it is typically taken once a day, either in the morning or at night. However, Zyprexa should be taken at the same time each day to maintain even levels of the drug in your blood. Injectable forms are also available.

Regular Zyprexa tablets should be taken with a glass of water. The orally disintegrating tablets do not need to be taken with water. If Zyprexa causes bothersome drowsiness or dizziness for you, ask your healthcare provider if you can take your Zyprexa at bedtime to decrease these side effects.

If you are unsure about anything related to your dosage or Zyprexa dosing in general, please talk with your healthcare provider or pharmacist.
