Zyprexa Drug Interactions

Drug interactions can occur when Zyprexa is taken with certain other drugs (such as alcohol, Cipro, and Nizoral). These potential Zyprexa drug interactions may alter the level of Zyprexa in your blood or raise your risk of unwanted side effects. You should make sure to talk with your healthcare provider or pharmacist about the drug interactions with Zyprexa that may apply to you.

The following sections explain in detail the potentially negative interactions that can occur when Zyprexa is combined with any of the drugs listed above.
 
Alcohol
It is not recommended that you drink alcohol while taking Zyprexa. Taking alcohol and Zyprexa together may cause unwanted side effects (see Alcohol and Zyprexa).
 
Carbamazepine (Epitol, Equetro, Tegretol, Tegretol XR)
Taking Zyprexa with carbamazepine can lower the amount of Zyprexa in your blood, perhaps decreasing its effectiveness. If you are taking these drugs together, your healthcare provider may need to increase your dose of Zyprexa.
